Discover Fullstack Web Development in 2025
In the 30 years of its existence, the web has gone through different changes as technology advanced. It used to be that every new action on the web meant loading up a new page from the server. Nowadays, it is common to see web pages just calling a REST API and updating its DOM. In the early days, deployment means opening up your FTP client and transferring files to the server. But, the new challenges posed by more complex apps have given rise to technologies such as Docker to simplify delivery of web apps. In Dev8 PATCH 2025: Fullstack Web 101, we will learn the latest methods of developing and deploying web applications.
Conducted by Honneluv Labanan
Honneluv Labanan is a professional fullstack web developer at Cerena Solutions and Core Team member of Dev8, with programming experience going as far back as high school. He has explored various fields from mobile development to script, but has always known that his heart has always been with web development. His 5-year industry experience revolves around full stack development, particularly with vanilla web, ReactJS environments, and Django ORM. Outside of the industry, he has worked on various web-based personal projects, such as a custom frontend and backend framework, 3D renderer, and 2D grapher.
Random Fun Fact: In Dev8, he is known as one of the ✨ J A V A S C R I P T B O I S ✨, an internal duo (currently) of two of the most enthusiastic and passionate JavaScript developers of the community.
Here's What to Expect
We cannot wait to introduce you to fullstack web development. In the two-hour workshop, we hope that we can provide the following experiences:
- Be introduced to fullstack web development, and the client-server model.
- Learn how to build a basic API with Django.
- Familiarize yourself with API testing using Postman.
- Get acquainted with React and integrating APIs into your web app.
- Discover how Docker eases development and deployment.
Bring Your Own Devices
Participants should bring their own devices to the workshops. Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide development machines to our participants. Because of that, we would like every participant to bring their own. We'll do our best to make sure to ensure that you will still have a great experience regardless of the device you use.
